During their session, “Risk Adjustment Coding: Leveraging Data Analytics Tools to Drive Coder Accuracy and Efficiency,” Currimbhoy and Weikel will discuss the critical role accurate risk adjustment plays in the success of both health plans and providers as the industry continues to transition to value-based care. The duo will examine key challenges and best practices for leveraging data analytics in risk adjustment programs, as well as provide successful strategies that coding teams can use to drive coding accuracy and efficiency. Using Geisinger Health Plan as a case study, they will explore how the health plan implemented new, advanced analytics tools – leveraging natural language understanding, knowledge graphs and clinical rules – to successfully improve their coding practices and productivity.
