More than half (57%) of Medicare subscribers believe daily health routines are more important now than in years past, and 76% are interested in using plan benefits and incentives to help them maintain preventive health habits. The findings were published today in the 2020 Medicare Study from InComm Payments, a survey of more than 2,500 Medicare subscribers conducted in Nov. 2020.
The study revealed:
- 98% of Medicare subscribers say healthy habits are a daily priority, and 57% believe they’re more important now than years past
- 22% of Medicare subscribers face challenges in maintaining daily health routines
– As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, respondents indicated that stress and isolation from social distancing were the biggest factors impacting their ability to maintain healthy habits - 90% of Medicare subscribers do NOT have a plan-provided incentive or rewards card program
– 76% of those subscribers are interested in obtaining one, and 71% believe incentives would help them achieve health goals - 70% of Medicare subscribers with chronic medical conditions prefer plans that incentivize care activities (e.g. dialysis and glucose testing)
- The top three supplemental benefits and incentives sought by Medicare subscribers are:
- Gift cards (tied for first)
- Discounts on over-the-counter medicine (tied for first)
- Meal delivery services
