RICHARDSON, Texas, June 1, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) announced today it has acquired certain Medicare Advantage and commercial group membership from Allegian Health Plans (AHP), a wholly-owned managed care subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare (NYSE: THC).
All regulatory requirements have been satisfied for BCBSTX and Allegian to complete this transaction. This transaction includes nearly 20,000 members, enrolled through small, medium and large employer groups, as well as Medicare Advantage plans.

This acquisition follows Tenet Healthcare and BCBSTX entering into multi-year Medicare and commercial contracts, providing members uninterrupted in-network access to Tenet’s hospitals, outpatient centers and employed physicians in Texas.
